SCN is an established telecommunications training
company, who offer both training to industry as well as
residential resettlement
courses. Our resettlement courses are held at our
very comfortable and superbly equipped training
establishment in Blandford, Dorset, and quality
accommodation is included in the course fee. Many of our
courses have been tailored precisely to provide you with
the skills and knowledge needed to get ahead within the
IT and telecommunications industry.
SCN has teamed up with Blackburn College on their HM
Forces Training programme. Our two week Mobile
Telecommunications Network Engineering course, our Data
Communications courses are accredited as
varying numbers of H units towards an HNC/HND
qualification via Blackburn College. The Data Communications Course also
covers the syllabus of CompTIA Network +. As well as carrying
3 of these 'H' units the IT
Network Technician course gives the delegate the
hands on and theoretical skills to pass the industry
recognised CompTIA A+ Hardware and Software and CCNA on-line exams in
their own time. Our Installation
of Communications Equipment training programme
carries two City and Guilds qualifications as well as 1 'H' unit. Our IT
Systems Administrator Course covers the syllabus Microsoft 200x/XP
networking, Active Directory and Exchange 200x. Our Wireless
Communications Program is a detailed overview of Wireless LAN and
Wireless Broadband and Convergence with wireless and mobile
technologies. Our PRINCE
2 Project Management course includes the PRINCE 2
Foundation and Practitioners exams. The ITIL Service Management course
carries the ISEB Foundation and IT Service Management certification.
Mobile
Telecomms Network Engineering is an in depth training
course covering network architecture and transmission
principles to mobile subscriber management. Frequent
reference is made to currently implemented mobile
networks like GSM, and also examines key concepts,
techniques and protocols of GPRS and UMTS.
Our 2 week Data
Communications training course will provide the
delegate with a thorough understanding of the major
aspects concerning Data networks. The first week covers
the concepts of Local Area Networking and protocols with
an in depth look at TCP/IP. The second week would focus
on Wide Area Network technologies and switching systems,
with an in depth look at ATM. The delegates would be
presented with key concepts, techniques and protocols of
Data networks including Frame Relay, X.25, PDH and SDH. This
course also covers the syllabus of CompTIA Network +. The IT
Network Technician course is an intensive 2 week
programme covering A+ and CCNA designed to
equip the delegate with the necessary theoretical and
hands on skills to carry out several IT roles. The first
week covers PC assembly, troubleshooting operating
systems, hardware, networking protocols and security.
Week two covers Cisco networking skills and equips the
student with the knowledge and ability to install and
configure Cisco routers in a live environment.
The IT Systems Administrator course is a 2-week programme designed to
give students practical experience in the understanding and
implementation of Microsoft based networks. The programme,
through a blend of theory and practical sessions, provides delegates
with experience of Microsoft Windows 200x/XP networking, including
configuration and troubleshooting. It continues by introducing
delegates to Microsoft Active Directory, and then examines Microsoft
Exchange 200x, including administration, installation and
configuration.
In addition to SCNs many courses which are heavily
theory based, we also offer practical courses which are
very much a hands on approach for those wanting to move
into the installation arena. Our Installation
of Communications Equipment training courses, will
prepare individuals to install communications equipment
in all types of environment, from small business systems
to high capacity wide area networks. These courses cover
topics which take the delegate through the whole
installation process, from engineering standards and
design, through site survey, to installation and quality
audits. Programmed in a structured way to highlight the
principles of installation, as well as the challenges of
onsite installation, the courses are designed to benefit
those with no prior industry knowledge as well as those
looking to widen their experience.
The Wireless Communications Programme is a 1-week programme,
providing delegates with a detailed overview of this fast growing
networking and communications area. Through practical workshops as
well as theory based sessions, delegates will develop their knowledge
of wireless LAN including administration and security. In
addition they will explore wireless broadband and the convergence of
wireless and mobile technologies.
In the present competitive environment a properly
implemented structured project management approach is
necessary to organise, plan and control all business
undertakings. Our PRINCE
2, Project Management course provides those
responsible for planning and managing projects with a
structure, which will help them without imposing too
great an overhead, or stifling creativity. Senior
managers needs are also addressed by providing the
structure for a suitable decision support environment.
The ITIL Service Management course provides an excellent
introduction to the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)
best practice. It covers all of the IT support and delivery processes,
and will enable course delegates to relate ITIL best practice to their
own, or a clients organisation. This course also provides the
opportunity to gain well-respected IT industry qualifications, the
ISEB Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management, and the ISEB
Certificate in IT Service Management.
Our Resourcing department have had considerable success
in placing HM Forces personnel into post-service careers
within the telecommunications industry. By attending
these courses you will not only gain valuable skills and
knowledge, but also enhance your chances of being
successful on interviews should you wish to pursue a
career in IT or telecommunications.
